Bio

Seher Uysal was born in 1983, Istanbul; and has lived there ever since.  Studying Communication and Social Sciences at the beginning of her education; she decided to change her field of study and turned her gaze into a more subjective and perhaps a bit more vague and grey area; arts. Finally holding a Ph.D degree in Visual Arts in the year 2014; she has now, a more academic focus. Consistent with the variety of her educational interests,  her investigations as a visual artist and an [unemployed] academic vary in many different forms and disciplines: Art education, images and imagery, photography, cinema, everyday studies, travels, history, and social sciences are the main areas she focused on both as a researcher and an artist.  She works with materials that have a certain familiar nature, including but not limited to threads, fabrics, paints, newspaper clippings, photographs and objet trouvé.
She published texts in many magazines and academic periodicals about art and visual culture. Also had the opportunity to exhibit her works on many national and international platforms.
